John F. Kennedy High School’s Movie Night ended up being a fun and social event for students looking to relax, eat snacks and enjoy a film with friends.
The event had students from all grade levels attending for a night filled with friends, snacks and enjoying a film, but not everyone felt this way.
For most, Movie Night was a great way to spend time with friends.
Seniors also shared their thoughts about the event.
“I liked it,” sophomore student Teresa Martinez said. “But I feel like people were talking too loud and laughing a lot.” Even with the distractions, Teresa still liked the event and hopes it returns next year.
Juliscia Sanchez said she enjoyed it overall.
“It was cool,” Juliscia said. “I like it, I like the snacks and the movie.”
Juliscia noticed a few areas for improvement later in the interview.
“The line was too long,” she said. “They shortened the drinks and snacks a little bit earlier with the gates and a little more spacious with the field."
Not everyone came just for the movie. For Justin Ingram, who is a senior, Movie Night was about hanging out with friends then watching the movie.
“I just hung out with my friends,” Justin said. “I only saw the start and a little bit of the middle and the end because we were just messing around.”
Still, he thought the event went well overall, though he did have a concern.
“The parents,” he said. “I know their kids don’t go to Kennedy, and we can’t be letting them freeload off of us.”
Even with small issues like space, snack shortages and a few obnoxious moments, Movie Night gathered what school spirit is all about: Students coming together, laughing, and making memories.
With a few changes, it seems clear that the next Movie Night at Kennedy could be even better.
