Cougars showed heart at their Homecoming game on Friday Sept 29, despite loss to Cordova.

Going into the game, Kennedy was unsure whether it would be a win or a loss.

Varsity corner back and wide receiver Geoffrey Sinaga heard from the Cordova team say they might actually lose to Kennedy.

With both teams not having much success, both of their losing streaks led to having an undetermined outcome of the game.

Cordova Lancers went into the game with a 1-3 record with a 3 game losing streak. While the Kennedy Cougars have had no success going into the game with 5 straight losses.

Although the score board didn't swing in Kennedy's favor, the Cougars proved that their determination can’t be measured in the score alone.

From the opening kick off, Kennedy’s defense rushed Cordova's offence forcing a fumble against the Lancers offense and the Cougars were able to retrieve the ball starting the game with high motivation.

Kennedy was able to match their intensity with having many strong defensive stops, and many long drives down the field, unfortunately not getting a touchdown at the end of the drive.

Ula-Pu Carrillo , on Kennedy's defense, was able to get a very impressive sack, bringing very high intensity to the game, giving the Cougars the motivation they needed to pull through and attempt for success in the game.

Senior wide receiver and safety Tyler Woodard said Kennedy had many chances at scoring touchdowns but was unfortunately called back almost every time.

“We had our quarterback run in for a touchdown and got called back, but that was exciting for us.” Woodard also said.

During half time Kennedy players were told to stay in the game, after getting unmotivated believing it would've been an easy game to win.

Cordova's team's strength was mainly their drives, having only multiple runs and attempts at retrieving yards, which got them their touchdowns.

The Cougars' resilience never stopped even as Cordova started to pull ahead late in the game. The student section never stopped supporting until the final whistle. The whole environment was determined to be celebrating the game no matter the outcome and the band was energetic and loud.

After the game, Kennedy's focus became on their team to improve on their offensive side of the field. The Cougars defense has been doing an amazing job stopping the offenses, but can’t be relied on to win the game.

With Kennedy having extended their losing streak to the loss against the Cordova of 19-6, dropping their record to 0-6 record overall.
