Ms. M Returns: Honoring Our Beloved Counseling Office Technician

By Sarah Samra, Clarion Staff reporter

Marianae Sabillo, also known as Ms. M, is an office technician at John F Kennedy High School who works tirelessly to ensure that the counseling center runs smoothly. After an extended absence, she is back and Cougars have welcomed her with open arms.

Ms. M expressed that she missed all the students, her co-workers, and the school itself. She felt like she had been away for a long time because the upperclassmen looked taller and more mature, while the freshmen were just starting to become familiar to her. She longed for the interactions she had with students who visited the counseling office, as seeing them and catching up always brought her happiness. She found fulfillment in helping students, parents, and other guests who came in. Ms. M also missed her co-workers dearly, as she enjoyed working with them during busy times like course selections and planning staff birthdays. She missed the school environment, especially the quiet mornings in the counseling office.

“I start each day with a commitment to supporting my team and students at Kennedy. My aim is to bring positivity and provide assistance to our students in any way possible.”

“The bond we share at Kennedy is like a family,” she continued, “and I am grateful for the love and support I receive from both students and staff members.”

According to Office Technician Marc Wright, “I really missed Ms. M. It was difficult without her. For example, the workload was a lot, and managing five students at once was challenging. I am overjoyed that she is back. I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to work with her again, as she is truly amazing.”

He said that you should always be grateful for who you work with because you never know if you will get a second chance to work with them again. Additionally  Without Ms. M, the work environment was kind of dry.

Kennedy counselor, Angela Avelar, expressed how much she missed Ms. M's positive energy and how it brightened up the workplace.

As we welcome Ms M back, let us show our appreciation for her hard work and dedication. Let us support her in any way we can and make her transition back as smooth as possible. Mrs. M,

“I am filled with gratitude, it feels like coming home,” Ms. M said. “I am overwhelmed with gratitude towards everyone - students and staff. I am grateful to be a part of the JFK family. I felt welcomed, receiving hugs from students and staff members. I appreciate the administration for their practices and understanding, allowing me to return. I am grateful to my coworkers for their perseverance and productivity over the years.”
