Kennedy opening day baseball review

By Andres Luevano, Clarion Sports Editor

With the calendar flipping to March, spring sports have started including baseball.

The Kennedy Cougars Varsity Baseball squad began their season at home on Tuesday, March 1st , versus the Western Sierra Collegiate Academy Wolves (2-1). The Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.

Helped by Junior Francisco Castillo, who batted 4 runs, the Cougars kept their foot on the pedal by scoring 8 runs in the second inning.

The Cougars ultimately won by a hefty amount, shutting out the Wolves by 16-0.

The Varsity squad will go to bat next on Thursday March 3rd in an away game versus the Lions of Leroy Greene Academy.

The Junior Varsity squad played March 1st away at Rosemont highschool to begin their season.

After scoring 10 runs in the first inning, Rosemont never really had a chance to come back into the game. The JV squad won 22-2 for their season opener.

The JV squad will be at home on Friday March 4th versus Bradshaw Christian (1-0) for their next game.
